If you travel to a remote island resort, where do the people who work there live? Because of course, if we are traveling to a remote location, it’s highly unlikely that it’s an easy place for hotel staff to commute to and from. Typically on an island resort, staffers are housed in the middle of the island and don’t have access to the beach, the walking paths, or any of the amenities that make these destinations so appealing to travelers. <br/>But there’s a new type of staff housing pioneered by the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, which created an entire island for its employees—one where they can also snorkel, swim, relax, eat, work out, and just generally soak in the Maldives. This week’s guest, Sally Kohn, traveled to the resort last year to get a peek at the island and see if it’s really as impressive as it seems. A Tenby seafront hotel that was put on the market for over £2million, has been sold.<br/>The Imperial Hotel, which is more than a hundred years old, has been sold by specialist hotel property adviser, Christie & Co, to Crest Hotels.<br/>The listed building, originally a terrace of homes known as Belmont Houses, which were built in the 1830s, had an asking price of £2.5million; with the new owners acquiring the freehold of the property.<br/>Crest Hotels directors, Gurjinder and Parminder Singh, said: “We are extremely proud to bring this iconic hotel into our existing portfolio and look forward to working with the team in situ to further build on its reputation and stature.\

Tenby’s famous seaside picturesque pastel-coloured buildings are in line for a further splash of colour thanks to a scheme supporting businesses in town centres to spruce up their exteriors.<br/>Since the start of the year businesses on certain streets in some of Pembrokeshire’s biggest towns have been invited to access a Streetscape Paint Scheme, part of the County Council’s Street Enhancement Programme.<br/>Tenby is the latest town to be included and businesses on High Street, Tudor Square, St Georges Street, Church Street, Upper and Lower Frog Street, and South Parade can apply for up to £4,999 per property.<br/>The fund will support owners of eligible properties and tenants/leaseholders who have the written consent of the property owner. Grants can be used for the purchase of materials (primer, masonry undercoat and exterior masonry paint) or towards the cost of using a contractor.<br/>Grants will provide 80 per cent of the total capital expenditure and schemes must be completed by November 2024.<br/>Best-selling American author and renowned travel writer Bill Bryson once wrote of Tenby after visiting the seaside town: “I had heard that it is a charming place, but in fact it is exquisite - full of pastel-coloured houses, sweet-looking hotels and guesthouses, characterful pubs and cafés, glorious beaches and gorgeous views!”<br/>Additional streets added to the scheme in towns already benefitting from the grant include - Market Square and Main Street in Fishguard, Market Street and Picton Place in Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock’s Meyrick Street and Northgate Street in Pembroke.<br/>
