Rick Woodbury from Spokane, Washington USA, is the president, founder and sole employee of ‘Commuter Cars.’ The carmaker’s flagship model is the 2005 super slim two-seater Tango T600, a high-performance electric car that preceded Tesla. Rick told us: “I started this company 21 years ago – it was based on an idea that I came up with in 1982.” He was inspired by the shocking traffic congestion he had to face on a daily basis. “I used to drive a Porsche from Beverly Hills to Hermosa Beach every day and the traffic was horrendous,” explained Rick. What really made Rick think about a solution was the fact that in most of the cars he would see in his commute were occupied by lone drivers. “I noticed that everybody around me was a single occupant in a car, taking up the whole lane,” Rick said. Living and working in Los Angeles also helped inspire Rick’s unique creation. “I thought, everyone wants to get from point A to point B efficiently, and in cities like Los Angeles there’s really no centre, there’s no hub, everybody goes everywhere,” explained Rick. For him, there is a simple solution, and that is reducing the width that vehicles take up on the road so that 2 can fit comfortably in a single lane. “I don’t think there’s any other answer except doubling lane capacity,” said Rick. With a length of 102 inches this micro car can be parked just about anywhere, just like you would with a motorbike. Rick said: “The length is the same width of a semi-truck so I can park perpendicular to the curb.”The selling point of this vehicle is that it can drive in-between cars better than any other car. “The coolest feature for me to that it can get through traffic faster than any car in history,” said Rick. Much like a motorbike, the Tango T500 can drive right up to the stop line of traffic lights.")

_surfers-against-sewage-has-once-again-issued-warnings-over-storm-sewage-discharges-affecting-beaches-across-pembrokeshir.jpg "A ‘clean seas’ campaign group has once again issued warnings to the members of the public over storm sewage discharges affecting beaches across Pembrokeshire.<br/>Over the past 48 hours, Surfers Against Sewage has highlighted areas along the county’s coastline where alerts have been issued for discharge from sewer overflows -including Tenby’s South and Castle beaches, Saundersfoot, Manorbier, Barafundle, Nolton Haven, Little Haven, Broadhaven, Dale and West Angle.<br/>Local councillors continue to highlight sewage and pollution concerns in the community, with the spotlight put on Tenby and its surrounding area once again, when at the most recent meeting of Tenby Town Council, Cllr Duncan Whitehurst reported to his fellow members that he had attended a meeting recently with Dŵr Cymru and National Resources Wales on such matters. <br/>“It had been an interesting meeting as research done had found certain assets in Saundersfoot, Manorbier and Tenby were behaving rather badly,” said Cllr Whitehurst.<br/>“There are four pumping stations in Saundersfoot which are really struggling and every time it rains, they go to overflow, which means there is the potential to affect us. The same for the one in Manorbier.<br/>Cllr Whitehurst also pointed to a pumping station at Tenby's Oakridge Acres estate, that few people knew about, which was also overflowing on a regular basis.<br/>“The worry is that they are not certain where it goes but the suspicion is into the marshes,” he continued.<br/>“Dŵr Cymru accept they are in breach of their permits in relation to these and are planning investment and ways of improving the situation.<br/>“The Ritec culvert collapsed but the cause is unknown. It could possibly be wear and tear as it’s about 150 years old,” explained Cllr Whitehurst, who said that remedial work had been completed but the results of the investigation were not yet known.<br/>“There is a small treatment works in St Florence with wastewater emptying directly into The Ritec. <br/>“There have been instances of it tipping sewage when water levels are low. It should not have been doing it and this is also currently under investigation.<br/>“It’s no surprise then that there have been random spikes of bacteria. _pembrokeshire-council-to-carry-out-39pooch-patrols39-for-breaches-of-beach-byelaws.jpg "Pembrokeshire County Council have confirmed that WISE enforcement officers will be carrying out patrols for breaches of beach byelaws with the annual restrictions on dogs running from the start of May to the end of September.<br/>Despite being known to many as ‘dog friendly Pembrokeshire’ - the Local Authority still likes to restrict pet pooches from many of the the county’s beaches during the holiday season, between May 1 and September 30 each year.<br/>PCC state that the bye-laws prohibiting dogs from areas of certain beaches exist primarily to protect the interests of bathers during the summer season.<br/>Partial beach bans are in place on the following: Saundersfoot beach; Tenby Castle and South Beach; Lydstep; Newgale; Amroth; Poppit Sands; Broadhaven North; Dale; whilst Tenby’s North Beach and Whitesands in St Davids are the subject of total dog bans.<br/>PCC has confirmed that WISE (Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement) officers will be carrying out patrols on beaches alongside their other routes, with breaches of beach byelaws part of their contracted duties.<br/>A Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £75 can be issued for anyone breaking the restrictions. _pembrokeshire-council-to-carry-out-39pooch-patrols39-for-breaches-of-beach-byelaws.webp "Pembrokeshire County Council have confirmed that WISE enforcement officers will be carrying out patrols for breaches of beach byelaws with the annual restrictions on dogs running from the start of May to the end of September.<br/>Despite being known to many as ‘dog friendly Pembrokeshire’ - the Local Authority still likes to restrict pet pooches from many of the the county’s beaches during the holiday season, between May 1 and September 30 each year.<br/>PCC state that the bye-laws prohibiting dogs from areas of certain beaches exist primarily to protect the interests of bathers during the summer season.<br/>Partial beach bans are in place on the following: Saundersfoot beach; Tenby Castle and South Beach; Lydstep; Newgale; Amroth; Poppit Sands; Broadhaven North; Dale; whilst Tenby’s North Beach and Whitesands in St Davids are the subject of total dog bans.<br/>PCC has confirmed that WISE (Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement) officers will be carrying out patrols on beaches alongside their other routes, with breaches of beach byelaws part of their contracted duties.<br/>A Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £75 can be issued for anyone breaking the restrictions. Guide Dogs are exempt.<br/>“The intention is for beaches to be patrolled and enforcement of beach byelaws to be carried out where necessary,” said a spokesperson for PCC.<br/>“As always we would prefer not to have to enforce and would urge all those visiting beaches to follow local signage and familiarise themselves with the details of where dogs are allowed and not allowed.”<br/>Some have labelled the policy as ‘draconian’ with Tenby councillor Duncan Whitehurst suggesting in recent year an idea to amend the times dogs are allowed on areas such as North Beach, rather than a total prohibition for five months of the year.<br/>Bans in other seaside resorts across the UK, such as Cornwall, only have restrictions on beaches between ‘peak times’ such as between 10 am and 6 pm.<br/>In relation to Saundersfoot’s main beach, County Councillor for the south ward, Cllr Chris Williams has engaged with holiday companies, and asked them to remind visitors of the restrictions, especially properties along The Strand that have access to the beach within the dog enforcement area.<br/>“I feel communication is the best way forward on this - but persistent individuals who ignore the rules will be subject to the enforcement team patrolling our beaches and villages,” he explained.<br/>More information can be found at: https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/dog-control/summer-beach-bans")
