G.I. Nick Blake, a never charged con man in his pre-military life, has just received an honorable discharge from the army on medical reasons. Rather than return to his old life, he plans to settle down in New York, his hometown, with his girlfriend Toni Blackburn and the small cache of money he amassed prior to the war: $50,000. When that plan does not pan out, he decides to head to Los Angeles with his con man friend Al Doyle and live it up until he decides on a more permanent course for his life. He is informed by Pop Gruber, an aging mentor doing solely penny-ante street cons now in L.A., of a potential big mark. Doc Ganson, a former con associate, found the mark, lonely widow Gladys Halvorsen worth $2 million, but does not have either the bankroll or the charms to carry out the con on Gladys himself. With Al running interference for him, Nick agrees both to bankroll and carry out the con, he negotiating two-thirds of the take for himself, leaving Doc and his two associates a minimum of $30,000. Although Doc does not like the conditions, he feels he has no choice but to accept the offer as he is desperate for a score to get himself back on his feet. The con is complicated as Nick, using the alias Nick Lloyd, discovers that Gladys is accompanied in Los Angeles by her business manager, Charles Manning, who may be a little more careful than Gladys with her money. Further complications may ensue as Nick is recognized by others who know him as Nick Blake, as Toni comes looking for him to get her own cut in whatever he is doing, and most importantly as Nick and Gladys really do fall for each other. Mutant League is an animated series based on the video games Mutant League Football and Mutant League Hockey which aired from July 2, 1994 to February 24, 1996.[1] The show ran for two seasons, with the second typically incorporating more poignant stories and issues, while the first seemed somewhat hodgepodge with little regard for continuity (the Monsters have one win streak that ends twice, for instance). Corrupt league commissioner Zalgor Prigg constantly schemes to get the popular athlete to play for any one of the four teams he owns (Slayers, Evils, Derangers or Ooze), or if nothing else discredit him for refusing to join. Bones' search for his father and his personal quest to bring order to the league, are subplots throughout the series. Several other characters from the games such as Razor Kidd, Mo and Spew, K.T. Slayer, Grim McSlam and Coach McWimple regularly appear in the show.<br/><br/>Unlike the games, players did not die from their unique approach to contact sports; though frequently maimed to the point of losing body parts, through treatments in a machine called the Rejuvenator which bathed them in toxic chemicals, they would soon be as returned to health. The show also has no robot players (except in one episode where K.T. Slayer was benched by robotic clones of himself) and only five teams; the Monsters, the Slayers, the Ooze, the Derangers and the Screaming Evils. It also has the teams competing in all manner of sports, not just the ones seen in the games. Most commonly Football, but also hockey, basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball and even monster truck races and sumo wrestling. Masters hopeful Gary Woodland sealed one of the most heartwarming comeback stories for many a year on Wednesday by sinking his first career hole-in-one.<br/><br/>Woodland, a former US Open champion, only returned to the PGA Tour at the start of the year after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor in September.<br/><br/>And just over six months on from the op, the 39-year-old hit the first hole-in-one of his professional career at the Augusta National Golf Club.<br/><br/>In the traditional Par 3 competition on the eve of the Masters, which sees players take part in a light-hearted event with members of their families serving as caddies, Woodland achieved the feat from around 140 yards out on the sixth hole.<br/><br/>He pulled off the hole-in-one after son Jaxson, 6, and twin daughters Maddox and Lennox, 4, joined him on the course in miniature Masters caddie outfits for the event before his eldest child went and retrieved the ball for him.<br/><br/>And incredibly, on the very next hole Woodland came agonizingly close to making it two career hole-in-ones in the space of minutes.<br/><br/>The former world No. 12 was almost wheeling away in celebration once again, only to have his tee-shot lip out at the very last moment.<br/><br/>Woodland first began showing symptoms of his lesion in the brain back in April 2023, after experiencing tremors and chills while having trouble sleeping.<br/><br/>'It came out of nowhere,' he said in January of the symptoms, which began a few weeks after last year's Masters. 'It was a horrible experience. All you wanted to do was go to sleep to not think about it and going to sleep was the worst part.<br/><br/>'That is where all the seizures were happening. It was a horrible four, five months.'<br/><br/>He added: 'As it got worse, loss of appetite, chills, no energy. It started getting pretty bad to where I was meeting... I have a performance coach, I'm working with her. <br/><br/>It started getting so bad I called my doctor who I've been with for 13 years and I was like, man, I need something to calm me down. Almost anxiety.<br/><br/>An MRI eventually revealed the tumor, but he continued to play golf up until his surgery five months later.<br/><br/>Doctors are believed to have drilled a hole in his skull the size of a baseball, before removing a tumor that proved to be benign. <br/><br/>Woodland returned at Hawaii's Sony Open in January, where he failed to cut. Now the man from Topeka, Kansas, is hoping to build on that at this week's Masters.<br/><br/>'Obviously, it's been a journey,' he said on Tuesday about his recovery. 'It's been a process for the last year. But there's nowhere I'd rather be right now.'
