Arsenal's club staff were seen rehearsing their Premier League trophy presentation should the eventuality arise that the north London outfit win their first league since 2004 on Sunday afternoon. <br/><br/>The Gunners sit two points behind Manchester City, second in the standings, and take on Everton at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow afternoon. <br/><br/>Pep Guardiola's side, meanwhile, are on the cusp of claiming their fourth consecutive league title and will be crowned champions should they claim victory tomorrow against West Ham. <br/><br/><br/>Yet, should City drop points at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow and Arsenal claim victory, their superior goal difference would mean that Mikel Arteta's side will clinch their first Premier League title since 2004. And it seems every eventuality is being catered for at the Emirates ahead of what could be a thrilling final day. <br/><br/>A video has now emerged online showing Arsenal's staff practicing the trophy presentation. <br/><br/>The club had laid banners reading 'Premier League champions' all over the pitch, while a stage emblazoned with the Premier League logo, had been erected in the centre circle. <br/><br/>The Premier League trophy can also be seen standing on a plinth on the stage. An identical trophy will be in Manchester this weekend if City go on to win the league instead. <br/><br/>Staff can be seen queueing and walking onto the stage, just as the players would do to collect their medals. <br/><br/>Members of the club shook hands with each other, with one person appearing to present those walking onto the stage with pretend medals.<br/><br/>An expert engraver will be on hand at each stadium to etch the required team's name onto the trophy, while a set of 40 medals will be ready to be presented at each ground.<br/><br/>Should Arsenal go on to win the league, an open-top bus parade will take place through the streets of Islington on Monday, May 20.<br/><br/>Ahead of the final day of the season, Arteta had pleaded with David Moyes to help his Arsenal side clinch their first league title in 20 years. <br/><br/>The Spanish football manager played under the Scot during his time at Everton and was hopeful West Ham could take points away from City on Sunday. <br/><br/>'He [Moyes] has been instrumental in my career,' Arteta said. <br/><br/>'Not just as a footballer, but as a person as well. If he could help us to fulfill our dream and my dream to win the Premier League, that will be unbelievable and he'll always be in my memory, that's for sure.'<br/><br/>The Gunners will rue dropping points to Aston Villa during their 2-0 defeat on April 14, which seemingly saw them slip behind City in the title race. <br/><br/>Yet, Arteta still has faith that his side can win the title heading into the final weekend. <br/><br/>'I do believe,' the 42-year-old told BBC Sport earlier this week. <br/><br/>'We wanted to be in this position. Crafted from precious metals and rare stones, our most treasured jewellery is often a token of love, given to mark a significant rite of passage in our lives: an important birthday, a wedding, a promise, an heirloom that links us to someone passed.<br/><br/>We invest the jewellery we love with special powers; these precious metals and stones become such a part of us that we feel lost without them – they seem to become connected to our personal strength and power.<br/><br/>Some might call it superstition, but for Hebden Bridge-based jeweller Toby Cotterill, it’s magic: “I think human beings are capable of magic.” he says, “We can all go beyond what we do in our everyday and get to a different place, and it can help us through hard times. I’m not saying that my jewellery is magic, it’s not me doing it, it’s people putting their emotions and memories and histories into a piece and giving it power.”<br/><br/>Throughout the world and since the beginning of time people have imbued jewellery with talismanic power. The objects we make from precious minerals and stones have been buried with us and long-outlasted skin and bone. Those ancient objects continue to exert an influence and connect us to the stories of people who lived before us.<br/><br/>In his tiny-but-perfectly-formed workshop in Hebden Bridge’s Northlight Studios, Toby sees himself as part of an ancient tradition, using tools and methods that jewellers and metalsmiths have refined and developed over thousands of years.<br/><br/>It’s a magical process to watch. Toby takes gold or silver, melts it, moulds it, cuts and hammers it, drills and files, heats it and plunges it into water, rolls it in sand – completely absorbed, at ease with his tools and lost in the making.<br/><br/>And somehow the metal takes on a new life, becomes something else – a shimmering beetle or fossil-like thing emerges. Something both ancient and alive at the same time, a moving, sparkling, precious thing with weight, something you want to touch…<br/><br/>One of four brothers, Toby’s childhood was spent in the hills and woods of the Welsh countryside: “Dad was a furniture maker, mum was a nurse.” he explains, “We didn’t have much money, but we were very happy. There was a move at the time toward self-sufficiency, so we had a small-holding, a few fields with maybe 20 sheep and a few pigs and cows. Mum and dad between them would work really hard, working the land and bringing us up. I think they wanted us to have that kind of childhood – grubby in the fields, learning the names of animals and plants and trees and just playing outside, making things.”")

_couple-take-pet-parrots-to-the-shops-opticians-and-even-pub-lunches.webp "A couple take their pet parrots to the shops, opticians, supermarket, Chinese takeaway - and the pub.<br/><br/>Anne Spider-McKeown, 64, and partner Spider Spider, 66, who changed his name by deed poll to reflect his love of animals, rescued three Macaws in early 2020.<br/><br/>The trio – Chester and bonded pair Charlie and Elwood – were initially adopted by Anne and Spider after they had to give up their motorbike hobby after coming down with Covid in January 2020. <br/><br/>Sadly, Macaw Elwood, who was disabled and looked after by Charlie, passed away in July last year. <br/><br/>Chester had bonded with Anne, and after Elwood’s death Spider says he became better friends with Charlie. <br/><br/>Charlie doesn’t fly, as Elwood couldn’t fly and Charlie would look after the fellow bird – but since Elwood’s death, the couple have been trying to help him find his wings. <br/><br/>Now, Anne and Spider are regularly spotted out and about with the parrots – going to the supermarket, B&Q and even the local pub together.<br/><br/>Spider, from Birmingham, said: “Whenever we go pub for lunch with the birds, we always take them.<br/><br/>“Going out with them turns any shopping trip about three times longer – we don’t mind though, we love people asking questions, it’s great to interact with people. <br/><br/>“It’s an eye-opener for people, lots of people are gobsmacked that the birds are real and I'm not walking around with a stuffed parrot on my shoulder. <br/><br/>“Anne loves birds and always wanted a blue and gold Macaw since being a child, so we thought we could rehome a couple as a new hobby. <br/><br/>“It's like having two three-year-old kids in the house. <br/><br/>“Charlie used to come with us to all sorts of places and then a bit later we decided we would harness train Chester so he could have same element of freedom. <br/><br/>“Generally, they’re very happy to interact with people, when they’re both in the right mood they’ll let strangers give them treats – people are surprised they’re so gentle with their big beaks.” <br/><br/>The retired couple have made some changes to their garden to accommodate the birds, installing a huge bird net nine feet high outside. <br/><br/>They say they wanted to make sure the parrots could have some freedom, so they let them out into the garden under supervision.<br/><br/>Spider says the birds have big personalities – and says Chester is very protective of Anne, even telling Spider off if he goes near her. <br/><br/>And he says he’s been amazed by Charlie’s changed personality – saying the relationship between human and bird is like human and child. <br/><br/>Spider said: “When we lost Elwood, Charlie very distraught so i Ia lot of work into letting him know he had a friend in me. <br/><br/>“Now Charlie has become my best pal. Charlie says hello, hello Charlie and will sing in his own way which is something he never did before. <br/><br/>“Chester will talk more readily than Charlie, when the phone rings Chester is the first to say hello. <br/><br/>“We have a lot of fun with them,they’re loveable characters.”")
